WASTE 2 ENERGY
The port of Barcelona
invests in a biomethane plant.
The port area of Barcelona is studying the feasibility of building a biomethane plant generated from organic waste collected from ships and others. It is estimated to cover 25% of the fuels that it supplies to the ships that supply it. The result of the annual transformation of 50,000-60,000 tons of organic waste into 15,900 cubic meters of LNG (liquefied natural gas).
